Building an A-team is the goal of any successful company, yet often times that never gets accomplished. There's no secret that it's more difficult than ever to find great employees, but as Kristi Brocato shares, it's not impossible.
When you have a team of co-creators, they understand how to take care of clients. Each team member has a special superpower that allows them the freedom to spend time with each client to help them accomplish their goals.
Kristi says, "People don't want to work FOR you. They want to be a part of something that you are building. The team that drives The Basketry works together to make things happen. They understand what our clients need and work hard to provide the level of service they deserve."
The most valuable way to build a successful team is to identify each person's superpower. "There are only 4 quadrants in any business. Revenue, Marketing, Sales & Operations. I already had amazing team members who just needed to find their superpower."
Recently Kristi spoke at a business conference where she shared her story. Kristi loved what she had built, but realized that it was important to have a team-led company that co-created instead of a team of good employees that she micromanaged. "No one wants to be micromanaged and once I gave my team the power to be team-led, and I got out of their way, they didn't need me everyday. This gave me the freedom to work on my business instead of in the weeds."

Founder - Kristi Brocato
Kristi founded The Basketry in 1995 with only $500 and a vision to be the leader in custom gifting in the Nola area. Never did she think her company would be recognized globally. When not in the shop, you can find Kristi involved with women business collaboratives, searching out the next hot hiking spot or hanging out with her family.
Alexandra Laux - COO
Alexandra has been a team leader, general manager and is currently the Chief of Operations. As a buyer of all things amazing and trendy, Alex has maintained The Basketry as the Best Place To Shop for 27 years! You can find Alex outside of work on her Peloton, taking care of her fur babies or enjoying a glass of wine at a wine bar.
Ali Fonseca - Production Manager
Ali has been the leader of Production for at least 7 years. She takes care of our corporate clients, creates samples for special events, business gifting as well as everyday gifts such as birthday and sympathy. Off the clock, you can find Ali at a sporting event, chilling to a good movie or spending time with her family.
Griffin Joliboix - CMO
Griffin started as a part-time college production helper during the holidays and once he graduated from college we were lucky to have him full time. He leads our marketing and social media and assists with high level clients. Outside of work he is planning his wedding to Claire, spending time with friends and trying out new patio bars.
Our entire team consist of 20 something amazingly creative folks who bring so much joy and passion to this small gifting business. We love each one of them and value the creative input they bring to the table.
Behind the scenes, we spend a lot of time creating new gifts for the website as well as custom gifts for clients. Staying on top of the gifting trends is one of our ongoing goals since we know that our clients don't want to send out dated gifts.
